Milorad Jovanovic
“Intuition and instinct are the strategies of being.” This is Mr. Jovanovic’s philosophy.
Mr. Jovanovic was born in Belgrade, Serbia. However, he studied painting from 1970 on in Herceg Novi and in Dubrovnik, Croatia, where he resided.
From 1974-78, Mr. Jovanovic visited Rome, Amsterdam and Paris, where he worked intensively in studios with other artists. In 1987, Mr. Jovanovic visited New York City for the first time.
Because of the civil war in 1990 he had to leave his home in Dubrovnik, Croatia. He fled from Croatia to Belgrade, Serbia with his family, leaving everything behind. In Belgrade he and his family had to adjust to their new refugee status. Due to a difficult financial situation, he was forced to stop painting. It is not till 1995 that he started painting again in New York City, his new residence.
Mr. Jovanovic had numerous exhibitions in the territory of the ex-Yugoslavia, as well as in New York City.
Today, Mr. Jovanovic lives and paints in New York, and his art and painting process continues to evolve. Philosophy was and still is a big part of his life. His thoughts are greatly concerned with philosophical issues, and one can see that in his paintings.
The paintings Mr. Jovanovic is currently painting are quite large, and I can’t stress enough how amazing they look like in person. I would definitely recommend these paintings to be purchased for apartments with large room(s), and/or official buildings.
